New Jersey snapped its six-game winning streak with two losses in New Hampshire

The 87's suffered a pair of heartbreaking losses to the New England Wolves this weekend, as they lost an overtime thriller on Saturday 6-5 and fell on Sunday afternoon by a score of 7-4.

Saturday's loss snapped a six-game winning streak for the 87's. The loss was especially frustrating since New Jersey gave up the game-tying goal with one second left in the third period before giving up the game-winner in overtime. Sunday's defeat gives the 87's a 17-6-2 record and a 2-5-1 mark against Northern Conference teams in the EHL Premier Division.

Kyle DePalma opened the scoring on Saturday just 16 seconds into the game. Jack Lane would make it 2-1 a few minutes later, but the Wolves scored three unanswered goals by the end of the second period to put themselves up 3-2.

In just under a minute span, DePalma scored his second goal of the game to even the score while Braxton Kilgore gave the 87's a 4-3 lead. The Wolves tied it again less than two minutes later, but Michael Termine gave the lead right back to New Jersey with a goal at 12:28 of the period.

It had appeared the 87's would come out on top, but Bryce Ricker rushed into New Jersey's end and beat Alex Neverve with one second left on the clock to tie the game. Sam Danais secured the Wolves' 6-5 victory with the OT winner at 2:26 of the extra period.

The next day, the Wolves would have the quick start as they jumped to a 4-1 lead by the end of the first period. Brad Heuer had the lone goal of the period even though the 87's outshot New England 13-11. After stopping seven of the 11 shots he faced in the period, Neverve was pulled for the second and third in favor of Tristen Gillispie, who made 20 saves in his abbreviated outing.

Lane appeared to give New Jersey a momentum boost by scoring 57 seconds into the second period. But the Wolves pulled ahead by three once more when Ricker scored on the power play at 14:49 of the period. A few minutes into the third, New England scored again to make it a 6-2 game.

While all seemed lost for the 87's, the team stuck with its game plan and started a comeback effort. Austin Bell cut New Jersey's deficit back to three goals just 38 seconds after the Wolves' goal. Josh Rosenbaum put home a rebound at the doorstep to make it a two-goal game with 9:25 left on the clock. Unfortunately, the team was unable to generate any more goals while the Wolves scored on the empty net to seal the 7-4 victory.

The 87's will have one last game before the holiday break with a contest against the Jersey Wildcats this Tuesday at the Middletown Sports Complex this. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:50 p.m., and all of the action will be streamed on hockeytv.com.
