Second-year forward will play for Rams in Fall of 2025

The New Jersey 87’s are proud to announce that Aidan Elbrecht has committed to play Division III hockey at Framingham State University for the 2025-2026 season.

Elbrecht, a 20-year-old forward from New Hartford, NY, is in his second season with the 87’s EHL team. He was acquired late in the 2023-24 season where he recorded two points in nine games with the 87’s. This year, he has 16 points (4g, 12a) through 39 games.

Head coach Adam Houli spoke about Aidan’s commitment and his development as a player over the last two seasons.

“He’s a guy that, late last year, was having some trouble getting into our lineup as we headed into the playoffs, but he stuck with it and understood that it was a process,” Houli said. “He came back this spring and summer, worked really hard and I think for him it was important to get a good start this season and that’s what he did. Very excited to see him get rewarded for persevering.”

Framingham State University is a Division III program located in Framingham, MA. Competing in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, the Rams are led by head coach Mike Bailey.

Elbrecht spoke about his commitment and what it means to play for Framingham.

“When you’re young and playing hockey, you don’t always know where you’re going with it, and it’s nice to finally reach the end goal of playing at the collegiate level,” Elbrecht said. “I’m excited to join the program, Coach Bailey is a great guy and runs a good program over there, so I think it’s an excellent fit.”

Throughout the 2024-25 campaign, Elbrecht has proven to be a versatile forward who can play in many different scenarios as a solid 200-foot player. He has also centered the 87’s top line alongside Alex Legkov and Landon Adams, and the trio has become one of the most dangerous lines in the EHL this season.

Elbrecht reflected on his development with the 87’s since joining the team last year.

“It’s been great here, I think Adam and Matt do a great job developing guys and moving them on to the next level, and it’s one of the reasons why I wanted to come here,” he said.

The 87’s would like to congratulate Aidan as he prepares to advance his hockey career to the Division III collegiate level.
